Keishawn Blackstone is a writer, director, editor, and producer whose work lives at the intersection of cinema, commerce, and code. He is the founder of Akwire Agency — a global creative and entertainment marketing house — and Akwire Media Group, the in-house studio responsible for original films, music, and the upcoming direct-to-audience distribution platform, Akwire Direct.

His path was never traditional. Raised on a steady diet of late-night films, music videos, and the entrepreneurial undercurrents of American hustle culture, Keishawn taught himself to write, shoot, cut, and sell long before he ever stepped onto a professional set. That self-built foundation became the philosophy behind everything he creates today: own the story, own the audience, own the upside.

As a director, Keishawn is known for a precise visual language — controlled compositions, deliberate light, and a quiet patience with performance. He treats the camera as a witness, not a spectator, and approaches every project — narrative, documentary, commercial, or music — with the same standard: emotional truth, cinematic restraint, and a clear point of view. His feature project Jack in the Box, a contemporary romantic comedy produced under Akwire Media Group, is his most personal work to date, blending his trademark intimacy with a sharper, more commercial tone built for a global audience.

As a writer and editor, he tends to start from the same question: what is this actually about? His scripts are character-first and built around moments that can survive the cutting room. In post, he edits the way he writes — patient, rhythmic, and unafraid of silence. The result is work that moves, but never rushes.

As a producer and founder, Keishawn has spent the last several years building the operational infrastructure most independent filmmakers never get to touch. Through Akwire Agency, he has architected end-to-end systems for production, packaging, marketing, financing, legal, and distribution — the same systems he now offers to studios, brands, founders, and creators through his consulting practice. His work has earned recognition in Forbes, and his client and collaborator orbit includes artists, athletes, agencies, and entertainment companies across North America, Europe, and Asia.

He is also an early and serious operator in the AI-for-creative-industries space. Long before it was fashionable, Keishawn was integrating machine learning and generative tools into real production pipelines — script development, previs, VFX, marketing automation, lead generation, and direct-to-audience systems. His position is unambiguous: AI does not replace storytellers, it weaponizes the ones who refuse to be replaced.

Today, Keishawn splits his time between directing original work under Akwire Media Group, running Akwire Agency's global client roster, and advising a small group of founders, studios, and artists privately. He believes the next generation of entertainment companies will be built by people who can write the script, cut the trailer, run the campaign, and own the platform — and he is building accordingly.
